We have experienced more than a few technical glitches on editing and uploading the videos from the Shear Inspiration party. Please be patient - they are on their way.
Show you care, say something
When we see a child who’s lost their hair through chemotherapy we feel a particular type of sadness. The reality of children’s cancer enters our world and we feel scared.
It can be very difficult to talk to a child who is sick like this. It’s also hard to talk with their parents. What do you? How can you help them? It feels like talking about it will make it even more real, and more frightening.
Unfortunately, ignoring someone whose child has cancer isn't going to make the cancer go away. It merely alienates that parent and family even more.
We want to help you feel more comfortable about talking to people in this difficult situation. Childhood cancer is rare, you might never have to face it. But it does happen and the phrases we suggest are bound to come in helpful at some point in your life.
The most important part of our message is to remind you about what you already know. As a human you know how a kind word, smile or acknowledgment makes you feel. In your everyday life you already make these small gestures and you let someone else feel good.
Nothing changes when it’s about cancer - Show you care, and say something.

Raising money for the Children's Cancer Foundation
The Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF) works to improve the lives of children with cancer, and their families, through enhancing their emotional, social and medical well-being.
Their wide range of services, change people’s lives at a time when life can seem very cruel.
When a child becomes sick the community of people who support, nurture, educate and love them are all affected. The CCF give children and families the information and support they need to be able to deal with this difficult time.
Over just one year it costs about $3.2 million for CCF to improve the lives of 450 children and their families.
Last year Shear Inspiration contributed over $320,000 to the cost of the renovated Children's Cancer Ward at KK Hospital. The new ward is indeed a centre of excellence. 2 additional bone marrow transplant rooms were built, so that the amount of time a child has to wait for their transplant has been significantly reduced.
This only happened because people like you gave us money, girls donated their pony tails, families joined the Hair Extravaganza, and ladies like the ones above donated their hair!
